Props and when to use them

There are varying uses of some props, so it's always a good idea to check the local customs where you watch the film. And also remember to check with the theatre personal about any rules regarding what can and can't be done.

This is 'my' list of props, that I use at my local RHPS cinema, in more or less the correct order they need to be used.

Prop   When to use it
Rice Throw them at the start of the film, when the bride and groom exit the church.
News paper Cover yourself against the rain, in the same way that Janet does.
Water pistol Why do you think you needed the news paper. ;-)
Lighter Light it while Janet and Brad are walking towards the castle, during the part of the chorus where they sing "There's a light over at the Frankenstein place." Please be careful: You are using live fire while wearing paper hats!
Rubber glove Snap the glove in sync with Frank.
Toilet paper The custom in Denmark is to throw the toilet paper when they unwrap Rocky.

In the US the toilet paper is thrown when Dr. Scott is introduced. You should try to get the Scott brand of toilet paper for this. This brand isn't available in Denmark, so the joke gets 'lost in translation', which is why the custom has changed here.

Noise maker Use it when the party guests use theirs.
Party hat Put it on when Frank puts his on.
Slice of toast bread Throw it when Frank stands up during dinner and says "A toast."
Deck of playing cards Throw individual paying cards when Frank throws his during the final song.

Call backs

  • Every time Janet's name is mentioned yell "Slut!"
  • Every time Brad's name is mentioned yell "Ass hole!"
  • Every time Eddie's name is mentioned you go "Shhhh."
